Mikuni needle washer

Morning people,just recived my mikuni 22mm kit for my clone 6.5 and setting up the carb I noticed the needle on the slide has the metal clip and a little white plastic washer on it,does it need the washer on it as I don't think it should? Any advice thanks from the uk lee

The only possible use for it I can see, is to help raising the needle position.

on my 5.5 briggs the washer must be used. the washer is usually smaller on one end(very hard to tell with your eye).the small end goes in first. Also i think one end may have faint traces of red marker around it (very faint):not sure if thats the small end?
if it leaks while sitting then it needs the needle height seat washer.

Thankyou for your replies guys,il try it with and without also do any of you guys who run the mikuni carb do you no what the screw is on the left side of the carb is?is it for the idle as I have 2.1 on the bottom of the carb and 1 on the left side of carb? Any ideas can't find any diagrams of what it is thanks guys
