Montgomery Ward Mini Bike!

I found this Montgomery Ward mini bike up on Craigslist for $300 near my area and was curious about it. I know it needs a restoration since it's so beat up, but is there anything special about these things? Please reply if anyone knows something about this type of bike.

Looks like a model 525, Made by Gilson.
The good, They ride well and are very sturdy.

The bad, Wrong Engine (Should be Tecumseh), Seat has issues, Rear Gas Tank is missing, Wrong Torque converter.

I would try to buy it, but not for that money.

I saw this last night. I emailed the guy to ask if he'd pull the rear chain guard and sell it separately. No response as of yet

I paid $250 for mine (two-speed), and it had all of the trim pieces and the original motor (with the exception of the rear chain guard and the exhaust pipe).

$300 is probably too high for bike if you're wanting a Gilson to restore, but it's still a nice riding bike with a TAV. I bet he'd take less for it. There is a guy up there in Chicago that calls me from time to time - I was trying to get him to offer the guy $200 and ship it to me. We'll see how it pans out.
