need carb

have what appears to be a 70's kawasaki kv75 not sure, it will idle but when you apply the gas it dies, any suggestions the local bike shops cant seem to figure it out, there suggestion is to get a new carb, so thats why i came here. you can see the bike on my photo's. any help would be great.

Check the fuel shut off that is on the tank. take it out and clean it. clean the carb with some good carb. cleaner the main jet sounds cloged, or the fuel shut off. could be dirt in the fuel bowl. All these things need to be checked. Is there rust or dirt in the tank?

i have done all that and even put it in one of those vibration bowls to try and get anything out.

You pulled the fuel shut off out of the tank, they get clogged. are you sure its the carb. that is the prob. not the points? an air leak? reeds?

i have not checked the points. i will try to do that tomarrow. thanks for the suggestions
