HI, I would appreciate your recommendation on this issue.
Mini bike/cycle, good size, has 16” front wheel and 14” rear with earles forks.
It is actually not at my house yet, but have paid for it. I just know a few items puzzle me.(thats the fun part) so I would like any info you have.
Not sure what brand, I have a smaller one like it from MTD with 12” front and 10” back,(that I just restored) but I did not think they made a bigger one. Funny how front wheel is bigger.
You can see my pics on it here.
I have a standard “animal” I got new off craigslist, could not pass it up….
3/4" shaft, has carb, no exhaust.
The bike has a jack shaft, appears to have a sprocket on the engine side. (to connect to the engine with a chain)
Question:
If I should go with a centrifugal clutch, like it probably had on last, which kind?
I am not too interested in spending over $100 on a clutch, have seen some pretty pricey ones. Not sure what characteristics the clutch should have.
they have different engagement rpm levels, from what I see.
Or, should I replace the whole set up with a torque converter, drive and driven …? Like a series 30 or 40 comet?
So many brands and types of clutches, not sure what the heck I need, also am unfamiliar with the “animal”.
Also, How to get an exhaust for the animal on a bike?
Having a blast restoring these old bikes, it is work, but fun.
Thanks
John Casey
