Harbor freight 4 x 8 foldable trailer. My son and I put it together in about 4 hours taking our time. I get to put lights on by my self. He has better things to do. He is 16 and it's saturday. So I will call it a shop tool, thats were it's parked anyhow. This was on sale this weekend for $279.00 a $90.00 savings. My brother has a bunch of 1"x8"x8' planks. He has a portable saw mill,so I get the family discount. I'm going to make the deck solid for now. I'm going to make the sides 3 planks 24". I don't need to fold for now.

I had one of those I just gave it away. I was tired of looking at it and it took up too much space in my little garage. They real cool for small stuff and light. Towed my 4 wheeler with a Jetta on mine for years

Looks like a great little trailer for minibike hauling , I have fabbed up many trailers over the years and the cost of the axel / springs and wheels adds up to more than yours
Just a sugestion , keep your decking as light as possible the weight rating of your trailer includes the weight of the trailer and the load it is hauling

I have been considering one of these. The question is,how good is it? Is it something that I could drive a thousand miles one way and back with it loaded without the bearings giving out? Or is it just for local jaunts? Is there a speed rating? Randy

These trailers are plenty sturdy for hauling mini bikes and even full size motorcycles.
I have hauled my 81 Electroglide to Daytona and back to Maryland with one of these, twice, and have hauled my 2007 Softail to Rockingham, NC and back to Maryland once. Never had a bit of problems.
I also use one of these to haul construction trash off my jobsites with some 4' tall sides that I made for it.
Just keep the bearings greased and dont run dryrotted tires and it'll work fine to haul your minis.

Hi everyone thanks for the comments. I got this to haul the minis and what ever. In the instructions it said don't tow over 55 mph. I read all the feed back about this trailer. There was about 35 and all or most said no real problems. The ones that had problems seemed to be owener caused not mechanical. Some of the owners said they would tow up to 75 mph. They also said long distance no problem. Keep the bearings greased. sounds like no problems for speed our distance. I plan on doing speed limt up to 60. I'm in no big hurry. I pick my wood up wednesday. when I get it on I will put up another picture.
Thanks Matt

Hey Rob I picked up my wood yesterday. The planks are 1 1/4" x 8" x 8' now I was worried about the weight. So the instructions said to use a sheet of 3/4 plywood for deck that is 60 to 75 pounds. 6 of the planks thats 4' x 8' come in right at 95 pounds. I still need to take 2" off each board and rip about 4" off 1 board so the weight should be close. I think the 1 1/4" planks will make a great deck.

I have the same trailer, only complaint I have is that the chains they provide suck, immediatly replaced those with locking ones and the wiring harness is cheap, I already replaced it with a new one.

Other then that, such a great puchase, has paid for itself many times over. Redoing my basement and hauled over 1000 pounds of junk to the town landfill last month alone as well as broght home a lot of lumber for the new walls.

I made a little roofed area behind my shed to store the folded trailer and sides I made all in the same area.

You got the 12" wheels right? Makes for a much better ride

I made my sides to easily slide into the stake pockets, the front and back are solid but the sides fold in half for easy storage

Also painted my wheels silver, the white annoyed me one day so I sprayed them with some wheel paint I had leftover from a past project

Here's mine on my last 500 pound dump run

Good call on the 12", my buddy has the 8" and kicks himself everytime he sees mine for not spending just a couple bucks more

Yup the the 12 " wheels are the best way to go I upgraded one of my boat trailers last summer and mounted the 8" wheeles as dummy spares on the tongues of two other trailers.

Hey Matt where does it fold? I see the small wheels on the back but I dont see where it folds???
It folds in the middle, but like I said in my first post I'm putting mine together solid. The deck boards should have a cut in the middle, then it folds like an old folding bed and the tongue folds down. The small wheels are offset so when you fold it they are lower than the big wheels. Then you can roll it away somewhere. There are two small carriage bolts on each side that need to be taken out to fold. They are under the trailer so kind of a pain in the rump to take in and out. You dont do that every day so no big deal.

Sure, why couldn't I have seen this today AM when I had the trailer out and moved another 600 pounds of stuff to the landfill then figured as long as I was already dirty folded the trailer and put it away :doah:

Here this might help, you see where the two floor panels are split right on the front of the fender? Well that rear section is hinged and folds on top of the front piece

Left side of this pic you can just see the silver hinge here on the inside of the fender

Once folded in half I tie the two sides together with a large velcro strap so they stay folded then lift up on the tongue so it is standing on the wheels you can see behind the fender. Two hitch pins and the tongue folds down straight.

Here's a pic of it all folded up

I also added a U-bolt on the axle so I can clip the safety chains to it so they aren't on the ground when storing.

When I get a chance I will take a pic of my storage area I made behind the shed, it only needs a 2' wide area to store it so I made an area large enough so I can store the trailer, sides, etc all at once

Thanks Guys!!!! Thats very cool!! I just sold a 14' trailer that was taking up way too much space. This looks like it will be a good replacment for it and not take up that much space at all. Thanks again Guys I am sold:thumbsup:
