Road friendly tires for my DB

#1
I'm wanting to put more road friendly tires on my Doodlebug\Dirtbug any suggestions? As trial and error is expensive I want to get it right, something with a turf tread or sawtooth design! Maybe some pictures and info on valvestem access, tight as it is!

Walmart has Carlisle Turf-Saver II tires for $20 each. 15X6.00-6 Great tires for both on and off road. They look a bit square before you put them on but they round out when you install them and put air it. They are a bit taller than the stock tires but clear everything.

Here's a pic of a brand new tire...

What kind of tread life do you get from them (on mostly paved surface riding)?

I recently replaced the rear tire on our DB30 ("Dirt Bug") with this tire from Tractor Supply:

Knobby ATV Tire, AT 145 70 - 6, 2 Ply - 0303440 | Tractor Supply Company

It's slightly narrower than the OEM knobby that came on the doodlebug. The rubber seems to be harder than that of the original tire and shows no wear as of yet (The side tread wore quickly on the OEM tire from riding on asphalt).

To be honest with you. I dont really know. 2 of my buddy's put them on there DB's but they roast there tires alot. :doah: I just put the tire in the pic on my wife's DB so will see. They are a harder compound than the stock tire so Im sure, as long as you dont roast the tire, they will last quite a bit longer than stock. Also only $20 so you can buy 2 to the one the cjtmini just posted and you dont have to wait on shipping.

My thoughts on the Tractor Supply tire are that they should last quite a bit longer then the stock tire. My son burned up the stock rear tire in about two months after getting his DB30. Then I put on one of the TS tires, and he's got about 4 months riding time on it and it still has a little more then half the tread left. Still running the stock front tire though...

Hey CJTMINI and VETTE66_00, can you guys post a couple other pictures of those tires mounted on the bikes from different angles.. I would really like to "see" :detective: how they compare with the stock tire for width and height. Just trying to make up my mind which tires to get.. THANKS....

i ran these tires from walmart yeah they're $20 apiece but for the street they dont last, and on db30 with 6.5hp or more better get 4 of them or go with the ribbed tire 15x6x6 they are for the street and have round shoulders ,tractor supply sells them for $25 and they last, i do burn outs all the time and they make high pitch scream!! these are the one you want if you ride concrete more than dirt.

i bought tires today at a tire store , i bought the turf master by carlisle , they take 30 lbs air preasure ,and are 4 ply ,,they are about 10 dollars each more that the turf savers , i have two doodlebugs one with stock tires , when you push the one with the stock tires you feel the tire rumble in the bars , with the turf masters you don,t feel any rumble at all . they have the same tread patern
