Anyone have any adds or info on the Simplex line of bikes very late 60's or 70's by chance in your collections? I'm still trying to ID the mystery bike, just browsing ebay I found some wheels for sale that say they came off a simplex that are a match to what I have. I was thinking that this might be an italian bike but the lights are made by an american company (speaker) Its not like any of the bikes pictured at minidoodle etc... I hit what I could find off a search for simplex and they cater to vintage simplex and pretty much just say "simplex went on to produce mini bikes go carts lawnmowers etc. in the 60-70's" no love for the mini's:thefinger:

Marcus : Take a look at Simplex Collectors' Site they have pictures of the Simplex bikes . And none of them have wire spokes wheels. The wheels on e bay are nice wheels but they don't appear to be from a Simplex Compact Sportsman. My Mystery Chopper has the same fuel tank as your mystery bike. just mounted different but it also suffered from not having proper fork stops installed and the tank is dented.

The "spitfire" is the one with the wire wheels, if they did in fact come off off a simplex they would be this one I would guess: (BTW this is one bad ass looking bike!)

"Zipseattle" is sending me those NOS spoke wheels that I plan to use for the Premier BeBe. It has that same cut sprocket on it IIRC.

That same tank (like ours not the simplex) just sold on ebay as an unknown with an ass load of bids and went for around $115 That surprised me as it was used and not that nice. I did email the seller to ask if he knew what it came from or if he could forward that question to the winning bidder. For the $$ it went for and the number of bidders I would think that it was for something specific, but who knows. Curiosity just has the better of me, It will drive me nuts not knowing what it is till the day I die:eek:ut:

i didn't think they built anything into the 70's, that bike has 70's all over it. spoke wheels, tecumseh motor, torque converter. markus is that motor the original one that came with it? maybe a date code can get you close to the year it was built?

Man I just spent a few minutes on the Simplex collector's site's classified ads, and those things are PRICEY. Ouch.

The more I look the cooler the Servi-Cycles! They remind me of my own modern knock-off motor bike, only way cooler.
