Something really bad happened with my engine..

#22
The belt is labeled with arrows (this side towards engine) I’m looking at your picture and it looks like the arrows are facing away from the engine.
Oh wow. It does look like the belt is on backwards. I would like to see a picture just after the cover is removed.
In your picture, it does look like your belt might be on backward.
There is a flat side and a beveled side. The flat side should be toward the engine.
sorry for the rather late response. just took off the side cover and check this out. that don’t look right at all. not sure how this could happen? not torqued down enough? also how does the belt look

Looks like the driver's movable sheave is stuck.

Remove the bolt and pull off the driver one piece at a time. This would help in understanding what happened. I suspect that it's hung up on the brass bushing.

Once you understand what happened you should have a look at your pully alignment. You want the alignment as close to perfect as possible. Otherwise, there is more belt wear and more power lost to friction.

BELT IS STILL ON BACKWARD/ INSIDE OUT/ WRONG!

It's upside down.
Take that bolt out and take a picture of your weights and springs before you remove them. I think you threw a spring.
here’s photos of everything i took off. sparkwizard, should i also take off the other “disc”?

Your belt is backward and your weights are upside down, inside out, too.

Look at "flat side" and "beveled side" now, before you put it back together.
Have fun and be safe. Also, remember, it's a HOBBY. It is fun and challenging to build and maintain prehistoric machinery.
You're doing a great job, Buddy! We've all been there, and I suspect that is why you are here.

The two things with the springs wrapped around them. One side is flat/ square. The other side is beveled/ angled. Now, look at the space where they get installed. One side is flat, one side is not flat/ beveled. The weights fit with the beveled side toward the engine, against the beveled side of the pulley. When you rev the engine, the weights spread out, push against the pulley and force it to grab the belt.

Those things in the center, wrapped with two springs....Pull them out, flip them over and put them back in.
okay so just flipped the belt around, look all okay? Very sorry, just a little confused on how to take the weights out. Is there a video you can link? This is how go power sports sent me it; they sent it to me flipped around? so your telling me to take out those two metal weights with a spring wrapped around them, flip them around, then reinstall them? thanks a lot.

Take your other hand, pull those weights up, out, toward you. Look at the side you cannot see now. You will see the difference.
Do you still have the papers that came with it? Manual? Instructions?
