The Vintage Mini Bike Family Photo Scrapbook

"Calling this a "motorcycle" might be a bit of a stretch, but this was what got me started down this long two-wheeled path. This was actually my second ride. A year earlier I had gotten a hand me down '49 Cushman Roadking from my brother. No photos exist of that wonder. The inset pic was taken by my mom, a notoriously bad photographer, the day I got it in the Spring of '59. The hot rodded version a year later in the large photo. I've never been able to leave well enough alone.
To this day, nothing sounds as sweet as a baffleless 8hp Cushman on trailing throttle."

"At about 12 or 13 years old on my orange Speedway Shrike in the small-town Iowa backyard. Paid for by a paper route. It was soon followed by a Suzuki TS100 (sadly, no pics). I must have had the most patient neighbors in the world...I would ride for hours and hours and they never complained. Even when their sidewalks began to crumble..."

"I learned to ride on the Suzuki 125 that I am sitting on. My brother and I shared the Honda Trail 90 that he is sitting on. Great times."

"I saw this thread a few months back and wondered if we had any old pics of the first motorcycle I rode solo. I remember my brother sitting behind me as we did laps around the buildings on the family ranch... About the 5th or 6th lap I came around the shed to see him standing there - he had just stood up and got off the bike and I hadn't even noticed.

This photo is several years before that when the bike was fairly new; it was always my brother Alan's motorcycle but, as you can see, he was good about sharing the fun. This photo was taken in 1964, and was probably an early 60's vintage Honda 50 Super Cub. Brother Alan is in front, and sister Karen is making sure I don't fall off."

Might be pretty lame to share this but man finding this picture in the bottom of a box I was going through tonight brought such a flood of emotion. This was summer of 1989(I think)

Not as old as some of you guys but man what a feeling those years ago. A boy and his mini. Life wasn't complicated all I wanted was the sun and my grandpa's back yard.

Someone else lives in the house now, my grand pa will of been gone 11 years on Jan 1st and the mini is long gone.

I think this was in 1973.

I was obsessed with a mini-bike that was being raffled off by my local VFW when I was a kid. Just happened across an old photo I took of it ........
