Ultimate Briggs Military Surplus 5Hp Flathead

#1
Saw this on eBay, I bought another nos one from BadDog minibikes minus the float bowl carb & exhaust to use on a Ruttman Minibike I am working on. Really good deal for what it is... https://www.ebay.com/itm/156244288498

Briggs IC 5HP dual bearing crank, Cast iron bore, & shielded ignition system like on old military radio generator engines. olive drab metal box with the coil inside to cut down on radio interference as well as metal braid over the sparkplug wire & a sparkplug helmet. Metal dipstick extension vs plastic crank plug.

The one in the listing is nos & complete & has a air filter vacuum flow meter on the carb & what looks to be a manifold pre heater of some sort that runs on a fuel source as well as a fuel line quick disconnect for it.

On mine, I added an electric starter motor from a older Troy Built tiller engine & also a flywheel with the ring gear & magnets on the interior of the flywheel to run battery charging & it also has the provision for low oil shut off but I do not have the kit yet.

My Ruttman minibike has lil Indian Mags & nos Carlisle sawtooth Double Indian head tires, BMX axle pegs & a manual clutch from 3D Motorsports with a steel band added to it for a band brake & a wrapped Robertsons Torque Tube Header that curves out & down... I want to make a on/off toggle latch for the bar lever for the clutch "like a click pen" & split the cable to progressively actuate the clutch, then the brake... Also paint the engine up silver with the white & red circa 60's Briggs Decals & paint the frame Orange & polish the mags of corse...

Is that a propane hose? It is almost certainly not a gasoline burning preheater, and it looks like the fuel line is teed into the carb and the heater.
So, is that carb modified for propane?
