brand mower

When i got motor it was less deck and blade. There is one one ebay under sachs km3 wankel mower, these also are on youtube under sachs km3 some with deck. I stumble on it 1year ago it did have spark but had great compression. Finding the rite bosch plug took some time as it now had new number. Im in New jersey.

I like it.

I wanted to do a wankel 303 minibike but havnt found an engine I can afford...yet.

I was thinking of mounting it so the ouput shaft faces the rear and use a RAGB.

flywheel weight

There is a weight for balance on crankshaft, but it ran fine with no blade . I ran it from idle to its governed speed and it was fine. I seen them run online with no restriction on throttle and they would scream. There is alot of trial an error with this project but it gonna be worth it.

Love the rotary power, i can only imagine if you could get your hands on a OMC 528cc rotary that produces 35hp @ 5500 rpm or 45 @ 6500rpm these motors you find in old johnson or evinrude snowmobile stuff, but the wankel is very cool:thumbsup:

First time I saw one of those it was an option on the Ghost.
I found one sitting in a warehouse in Winnipeg that was NOS. It required a factory service kit to correct some warrenty issues.

It was a troubled child though.
I later converted it back to he 440 apposed twin the ghost was originaly designed for and that engine and sled soldiered on untill 1986 when it was simply too technologicaly impaired to keep up with my chums on phasers and such.....

That wankle was smooth but you just could not keep them sealed up.

That apposed twin was a real sweat heart of an engine that I wish I could transplant into a mini.

You know what would realy make you cry?
OMC used a dozer to dispose of all the spare parts to those engines when production ended. Towards the end you could not even buy any spares for those sleds

Oh i never said they didn't have there fair share of probs the one i had i bought for cheap money took me a yaer and half to get running, the seals were so dry or apex seal that it backfired and then one day it just fired up and took off, when it idled you swore it was a diesel and another thing they had probs with was the ignition systems or power packs and you could only run a particular spark plug it was champion UP77V surface gap good luck finding one now:shrug: but when they are running good they have great torque

I vaguely recall those engines being sold at rock bottom prices here in Canada way back from places like Princess Auto.

Nothing wrong with them they just didn't catch on because all the OEM stuff was Briggs/Tech/Clinton powered and they were basicly locked out of the market.

They always seemed like a match made in heaven for a mini or kart, but keep in mind these were the days when you could buy a Westbend or Mac designed specific for racing.

Its nice to see one finding it way into a minibike in 2011.

Good luck with your build.
Hi there. I am from Canada too and I frequent P auto all the time! Did they sell cool "stuff" back in the day, items we vintage mini feinds lust after? Can only imagine what would have been avalaible back then!

Back then they were known as Princess Auto suply or something....
They used to have all kinds of thimngs like tyres for karts and minibikes all kinds of things for he DIYer.

They still do but they surplus is not as much as it used to be.
They were they place to buy everything from timers and parts to fix apliances ( if you could figuere out exactly what they had and if it would fit lol ). They would have huge rows of surplus items...

I remember one time back in the 80s I was in there in one store and they had Brand new Clinton engines on the shelf. Surplus from who knows where...

These days they are becoming more and more like Canadian tire however.
Still good if you need something to fabricate with but not as a good " junk store " as I remember when I was young.

I wish Princess Auto still carried stuff like that. The hardware store/garage in my home town still has some really old B&S parts in stock, I am talking 1960's stuff. There is one really good auto parts store 1 hour from me that also has tons of great stuff.

Anyone know what the Malibu grandprix karts had in them?
Geez, Malibu Grand Prix, now there's a blast from the past! The very early Virage cars were rotary powered, and boy would they fly! The second generation got Rotax twins, I think the rotary's proved to be too high maintenance.

A proper hardware store is hard to fidn these days but Sask is one of those places that seems to preserve a lot.

I have a chum up there, retire Potash guy lives in Esterhasen.
He finds more antiques and interesting pieces of Canadiana than you can shake a stick at.
I envy him actualy, wish I worked for Potash all these years instead of Inco and maybe I migh have me a nice little spread with a lot of antiques and mqayb e soem tractors ect.....

But I ramble
Have good hardware store and suport them, shop there.
When its gone you wil realize just how bad Cambodian tire sucks...

Got chain done today, I was gonna put idle sprocket near rear tire but i think it looked better and was eaiser putting it on motor mount. next is carb and exhaust. I order some cool detail stuff for it today. Bolts that hold motor are temporary , they are missing one and are wrong size . I got my locktite just waitn for every thing to line up..

good choice on the idler location, lookin' good.

do Wankel engines have a lot of vibration? the mounting plate just looks really thin, but I dunno I've never messed with a rotary. does it bolt in on both sides?

EDIT: OH I see what you did, sneaking it in between the pull start, clever

yeah i think i bought 14 or 15gauge steel. when all bolts are in it felt sturdy. ima weld little supports inside of mount. as far as vibration on start up and when i shut it down its got a little compression shake to it but at idle, other than wanting to rotate it has very little vibration. I wish in new hp I did several hours oline and could not get a true hp amount.
