which recoil

I have an ic 5 horse with no starter on it. The engine is a 132xxx.
Any one know if a repacment starter for a 133xxx will work on this engine.

Thanks

All of them either have the starter clutch on the end of the crank or the cup on the crank. All the cup style will interchange, and all of the clutch style will interchange, or at least every one I've ever tried. The only difference is slightly different looks, and on some, the rope comes out of the housing at a different angle, which can most of the time be changed by drilling the rivets out and moving to a different set of holes on the shroud, and re rivetting or attach with screws and nuts.

On the engine I'm getting the parts from the clutch is threaded and holds the flywheel on.

on the engine I'm putting it on there is a large nut holding the flywheel on. It looks like I can take the nut off, and put the clutch on, and use the clutch that I have. Makes me wonder what the big nut was for though:blink:

The old style Briggs starter clutch doesn't work with the newer engines. The old ones had about a two inch extension of the crankshaft that the clutch rides on.
