Will it work?

Hi Guys,
I have a Rupp HS 40 I'm working on. HS 55388E I bought the bike off a young kid that had the engine all jacked up from trying to fix it. In doing so he pretty much destroyed the lighting coil assembly for it. My question is, can I run a standard non lighted coil with the lighted coil flywheel? Will it work?

I do believe it will work, since the magneto coil and the points control the spark, regardless of the number of magnets in the flywheel.
I also (THINK) the inside diameter of the flywheels is the same.

I assume if the light part of the coil stop working you would still have spark. I’m following as I would like a lighting coil for the H50

Theres one on Ebay right now under Rupp mini bike parts. Not cheap, but it's what you are looking for.

If memory serves me, I think the lightning coil is the same for the HS and H50, H60, and H70 series. Obviously the flywheel is different, but if if the coil is your problem and your near snowblower country I would keep your eyes out. The attached image is currently for sale in Duluth MN / Superior WI area and has been for some time, cheaper potentially then the ebay route.
