I thought those wooden rails were ingenious.
The nice fellow that built them, John, tells me they are built specific to the width of the tire, so the bike is held upright even before securing with straps.
The bikes go in, like front tire of the first bike, then rear tire of the second bike, then front tire of the third bike. He has each notch marked.
He uses his in his van, I'd like to make a set for my trailer.
