$50 doodlebug

Picked up a doodle last night for 50$ missing only a chain and throttle cable. For this build I'm thinking of a honda clone swap with a torque converter. Should be fun having a race bike as well as an off roader! Stay tuned for more info. Any advice in the TAV install is greatly appreciated!

Is the thickness of the engine adaptor plate enough or is there more clearance needed?

Mind was just barely thick enough. My tav was the steel backplate not the big cast aluminum backplate.

Are you planning on using the (no suspension) DB for "off road"?

Yes. Plan on going to slightly larger snow hog tires. The stiff frame is what makes it fun.

You must be a YOUNG person. No way my 63 year old bones can tolerate that (been there, done that!)
Seriously, One thing you should consider is having a nice THICK seat with firm padding fabricated. When my son and I had DB's we had them made and it did help (somewhat) absorbing the bumps. The stock DB seat is pretty crappy, as you are practically sitting on the frame. By the way, You "STOLE" that DB for only $ 50.00- Job well done!

Yes sir I am 21 year old. Young, dumb and addicted to minis. I am considering taking both my DBS to an upholstery shop to see if I can get more robust padding as well as a more durable fabric.
