5hp carb question

can someone show me what cat eyes on a 5hp briggs carb are? :shrug:

im guessing they are the holes on the plate that flicks back and forth to make the throttle open and close but its just a guess:shrug:

lol i feel like an idiot now but i was on diy kart forum and someone said to look at the cat eyes on the briggs 5hp carb to see if it runs on alky or gas because the sizes of them will tell you

I'm assuming they are referring to the small holes behind the jet.. The larger one is the main metering hole, the smaller one is the idle hole.. those are drilled out for running alcohol..

Sidebar: If they ARE drilled out (oversized) for alcohol that carb cannot be used for gasoline- you need another carb.

how do you get to it? do you unscrew it

take the needle jet assembly out of the carb body and behind that is the brass main jet, unscrew that and you will see a slot with a hole at each end..

Has this engine been modified or is it all stock?

That won't do it if the cat's eyes have been drilled oversized. That carb will never run right on gasoline.

Yes they are referring to the hole behind the jet, they make jet kits for runnin on alky, does anyone know about a blue printed carb?

smaller meter hole must be left stock 2 pass inspection,larger hole can be .062 to pass n run methanol
