best way to clean up a max torque clutch??????

#1
i bought a frame and some odds and ends last fall and am just now getting around to messing with things.
a max torque clutch came with everything. it looks to be in decent shape but someone left it outside to the elements. so, unfortunately its rather rusty. looks to be mostly surface rust.

so, the question is........ whats the best way to clean this up and use it???

I've read on here about not lubing the insides for obvious reasons, etc... so i don't want to just toss it some oily bath for awhile.

take the drum off and clean that all up. then for the shoes if theyre really bad you can take it all apart but they can be a little tricky to get back together. Otherwize just make sure theyre free and run it. a light coating of grease or atf on the bushing is all it needs for lube

great thanks jeep!!!! the shoes have some rust on them too. when taking them apart, should i expect a surprise? like the springs letting loose or anything?
