Brand New 1973 5hp Horizontal shaft briggs

#1
I purchased a 5hp briggs, horizontal shaft, dual bearings in brand new condition. It has never had gas in the tank. All stickers and copper color paint intact. I was wondering the value of such an item.

Thanks in advance.

appraisals usually aren't done for new members. there are too many people out there that just want to make money from mini bike stuff.

$50 seems like a good price for it. if kbs8ball will actually give you that much for it i'd go for it.

Wow.....really, 50 whole dollars? When can you send the money!!

Thought this might be a nice place to become a part of.....guess I was wrong! I had no intention of just coming here and getting an estimate....I know the value of most motors I had just never seen one in this condition and was curious if anyone else had.

You dont give appraisals to new members but you wont hesitate to rip one off.....nice work! I wont be back.....

geez, calm down. we get quite a few people coming in here just so they can make money off stuff. i was being sarcastic about the $50, i guess i should have used a smiley.

your asking how much something is worth for your first post, that makes it seem like you're just trying to make money off it.

Mobhit , value of your engine could be much higher to a person that is looking for a correct date code vintage minibike engine. i think the only real way of finding out the true value of your engine would be ebay and that could bring in X amount$$$ and sometimes you can't base one or two people bidding x amount on your motor as a true value of it.? i say just keep it and find a nice minibike frame for it:thumbsup:

nice going Strigoi:doah: now look what you did:doah:
say your sorry or 3:30 AT THE BIKE RACK'S:smile:

do you have a frame to stick that hahahahaer in?

the copper would look pretty badass with a bare frame.

that's my idea so none of you can steal it. :thefinger:

Im back into karts right now, seems a shame to even start this thing. I have dual bearing engine that I am rebuilding now.....thinking about building a glass box and displaying it in my living room.....

wow nice find:thumbsup: i can remember back in the early 80's in high school small engine shop we use new copper color briggs for learning how to disassemble and rebuild..............:scooter:
do you have picture of the crank case cover? does it have the 4 bolt holes around the crankshaft. if so, you can bolt on a torque converter at a angle to clear the gas tank. engine would work great for a gocart:thumbsup:

Yes it does have the four bolt holes around crankshaft.....the crank is threaded at the end.....engine was made for a pump I imagine.....could easily change crank though. The funny thing is my buddy and I found two at the same place, his is a 72 model. We got pretty lucky!

I might have a couple of those, whats the numbers that say its a dual baring?

The model number is 130232

The next to the last numbers says that it is bearing......as for if its dual we took the cover off my buddies....hehe not mine:thumbsup: and it was dual bearing. I have seen single bearing blocks but not sure how to tell if its dual or single by model number........anyone?
