Hi guys….before I get way too deep is there a trick to setup a throttle on a Briggs 5hp? Special throttle kit? This is my first time in Briggs land so be gentle….thanks!

Look under the tank for a place to clamp a cable.
If it has the turtle and the rabbit near the filter, you might need to remove a piece of linkage up there before you can use a cable down below.
Pics will help if that doesn't make sense.

if you use the stock pork chop air filter you have to rotate a 1/4 turn.Dave Havasu use one in stock position ,cut a slot in lower section for cable and removed foam around the lever looked good

I think I have my filter on wrong…lol…I have no issues….last time I messed with a Briggs motor dad was beating my ass for throwing that filter away….

I have a 5hp Briggs that I hooked up my throttle to and still maintained the stock look. The choke and kill switch lever still works. The throttle lever was deactivated that the throttle cable now operates instead. Tomarrow I can make a trip to my storage and take some closer pics on how it's hooked up, if that helps?
