Briggs throttle help

#21
While we're on the subject of briggs mini bike throttle setup.

Does anyone now how to use that kit, and keep the governor in use ?
I do not believe that is an option, unless you connect a spring to the end of your cable and allow the governor to stretch the spring as needed.
You would need to modify the bell crank by adding an arm to it. One for the cable/spring and one for the linkage that goes down to the governor arm.

I have a 5hp Briggs that I hooked up my throttle to and still maintained the stock look. The choke and kill switch lever still works. The throttle lever was deactivated that the throttle cable now operates instead. Tomarrow I can make a trip to my storage and take some closer pics on how it's hooked up, if that helps?

If @Skipp doesn't mind me hijacking his thread, @Steve73 if you are using the governor, I'd like to see your setup.

Everything is still governed. The throttle lever is the only thing that was deactivated. The choke and run lever still works. And the kill switch works.

My govenor still works. And kill switch. 1000009980.jpg 1000009981.jpg

I see. It looks like you used the cable bracket and clamp for the remote throttle on a mower, tiller...and the stock bell crank and linkage.
Instead of a solid push pull cable, you have a big spring and a flexible cable. I like that setup, as it uses mostly original parts. Does that engine have the cable clamp under the tank, on the support bracket?

Cable clamp is in 2nd picture sorta blurry on the left side, right before the spring.

I do not like the raptor throttle cable setups..

I drill out the hole the solid L bracket cable fits through and press the end of a mikuni twist throttle cable through. Then add a return spring on the back. There are much better ways though. AFAFFD54-0D71-4B07-9266-F0F2A6B3ED0C.jpeg

Except that is not a stock setup on the chromed Briggs in post #9. To maintain the governor setup with all linkages intact AND imitate what was done on factory minibikes and go karts, see my posts #19 and #20 in this thread:

Throttle cable install help needed. 5HP leaf blower B&S

I Believe he was asking me about my setup and it was stock….until I received the info above…now it is not stock…
