Im looking to install my 212 and need some help. I read the post on the clutch brake and will be doing one with my own bracket and cover. I need to know what clutch should i get and why. Also do i need a spacer kit? I've seen clutches on ebay for 23.99, Max torque for around 33. and halliards for 40 and some change. I also need a chain. 35.
Wow that's a lot of questions to answer.
Three things to look at when buying a clutch - Chain size and tooth count, shaft size on motor - quality.
Chain size - to fit the bike you have - either #35 or #40 - the tooth count is important for your final gear ration - less teeth more torque more teeth more speed.
Shaft size needs to match motor - most 212's are 3/4
Quality - max torque are on the low end and Hillard on the top end, I have only ever use max torque and they're an awesome little clutch.
