How important is it to have a muffler at the end of a header pipe? Other than the obvious extra noise I was wondering what the affects may be for just cutting the threaded part off and leaving it breathe.
There are many with no threaded ends. So you could get by with just a pipe. But I wouldn't cut the threaded part off in case you decide its too loud later

Most places wouldn't let you ride, if all you have is an open pipe. If nothing else, at least consider a spark arrestor, if driving through the woods, or on trails.

I have a db30 with a predator 212. Basic first mods, header, intake, jet and emulation tube change. I put the RLV silencer on and I really like it. I live in a community where i need to keep the noise down plus I'm building for low rpm torque anyway.
