El Tigre: Made by American or Bird?

Truing the Drive Sprocket

After a week of chores and trying to finally get the deck finished, I played today. Carplay (Eric) found me the rear wheel and sprocket I needed. Unfortunately, the Hexstars are not particularly well cast and there was a good 3/8" of run-out at the teeth; certainly a guarantee to throw a chain. There was no way to balance the wobble in the wheel itself, but I could true the sprocket to the bearing/axle assembly by filing the flange mounts. Took about an hour and a half to get done. I used a piece of angle and a pencil as my "dial indicator." The thicker the line, the more that had to come off. The bearings shown are temporary and will be replaced.
