Youd be suprised. Sometimes a little bit of surface rust will lock one up pretty tight. Ive literally poured rusty sludge out of one and honed it. Runs like a champ, I still use it as a backup when I go to circle track mini races.

This clone here was siezed up tight.
A combination of oil starvation and rust.

If you get the engine apart Phosphoric acid will remove the rust and light hone.
You MAX ring gap with stock rings is about .012 and your max rod clearence is about.005.

This sack of hammers is running my snowblower with a high compression head.
