I/C 5hp vs stock 5hp

Ya can't! Easiest way to tell is the iron liner in the cylinder. I/C is iron cylinder, the others are aluminum. Sometimes you can verify that through the spark plug hole. Take a small magnet and see if it sticks to the edge of the cylinder...just make sure it does not drop down in the cylinder! Best thing to do is pull the head! I/C came as all bushing, bushing with PTO ball bearing, or all ball bearing.

You should be able to tell it's an
I/C if you see that little cover on the front of the block right?
cause I never saw that on a regular 5HP Briggs before.

if the step on the crank on the clutch side is 7/8 and not 1" it's a dual bearing...as far as I know I/C were all dual bearing, I/P were bushing block with a bearing pto cover, both of those were steel bore...

I have an I/C block with a flywheel side roller bearing and a bushing side cover with a 1" crank. I have another I/C engine that has a bushing block with a roller side cover. The possibilities are endless!

My I/C has a 3/4" shaft with dual bearings. I didn't even know they made 7/8" shafts
