IDing some aftermarket cams

#1
Hi guys, I need some help IDing some aftermarket cams for my Briggs 5hp FH. They are from Halls Racing Engines, but I believe they may be regrinds. Since I don't know how to degree cams I just used a caliper to compare the stock Briggs cam to these and they are definetly bigger.

The cams are marked as follows:
  1. the first one had 430403 engraved/scratched on the front of the gear, and between the 2 lobes 84 is stamped.
  2. the next one has 430403 on the front of the gear also, and has 46 stamped between the 2 lobes.
  3. the 3rd had 78 stamped between the 2 lobes.
  4. The last one has 49 stamped between the 2 lobes.

Do any of these numbers mean anything?

Also what do you need and how do you find the degree of a cam?

I am trying to get in touch with Halls Racing Engines to see what they say but I thought somebody might know.

Clayton,
Is it even possible to degree a cam on a Briggs? Been a while since I've taken one apart, but is either camshaft or the crank gear removeable and able to take an offset key way? On a V-8 engine, if the cam does not meet the specs you can move either the crank gear or cam gear. I don't think you have that option on a Briggs
might be chasin' a ghost!
