Hi guys, I need some help IDing some aftermarket cams for my Briggs 5hp FH. They are from Halls Racing Engines, but I believe they may be regrinds. Since I don't know how to degree cams I just used a caliper to compare the stock Briggs cam to these and they are definetly bigger.
The cams are marked as follows:
Do any of these numbers mean anything?
Also what do you need and how do you find the degree of a cam?
I am trying to get in touch with Halls Racing Engines to see what they say but I thought somebody might know.
The cams are marked as follows:
- the first one had 430403 engraved/scratched on the front of the gear, and between the 2 lobes 84 is stamped.
- the next one has 430403 on the front of the gear also, and has 46 stamped between the 2 lobes.
- the 3rd had 78 stamped between the 2 lobes.
- The last one has 49 stamped between the 2 lobes.
Do any of these numbers mean anything?
Also what do you need and how do you find the degree of a cam?
