my first minibike

#1
My first minibike in 1980 had no brakes no throttle (wide open all the time with a spring) a direct drive sprocket on motor. (no clutch)
Straight pipe exhaust. Piece of wood for a seat. I dont even remember what brand minibike. It was the neighborhood scar maker. I would pick up the rear tire run with bike and jump on it and it would take off full throttle the only way to slow down was to put your hand over the top of carb opening and choke it out going full speed, everyone i let ride it wiped out and came back limping or road rash, so finally one of the dirt bike guys in the neighborhood wired up a kill switch so we could now slow down by pushing a button with two hands on the bars, lots of memories on that bike but it was finally retired after the foot pegs were ground to nothing and the motor had enough. i moved on to motorcycles but now 35 years later i have picked up a murray track 2 time to get back to simplicity. Funny the things you'll do as a kid i rode that thing all over long beach California with cops making me push it home which was a real pain with no clutch, i even had one officer tell me to take my vice grips that i kept clamped to the frame for roadside assistance give him the spark plug or he would escort me home and tell my mom.
This little bike Inspired me to race Motorcycles for many Years.
