New to me Baja Warrior - need rear wheel spacers

#21
I figure if tolerances are that tight on a spacer, these bikes are in trouble. I would be shocked if even .1" made even the slightest difference here. That equates to nearly 1/8", and based on your pics, looks to be within that margin of error. I really appreciate you taking the pics Ludicrous. It helped me immensely. Just waiting on my tire to arrive (had to reorder as the tire shop installing the tire nicked the bead and wouldn't own the mistake). She'll be rolling very soon :)

no problem on the pics, glad i could help out.
i still say you should get oversize and then file them down..mainly because of your Chain Alignment<<
but well see what we see when you get done :)

heres a tip for your tires,if you ever need to do some that small.
grab a tire tool out of a late 80-s very early 90-s Volvo next time you are at the junkyard.
Not the Big one, look in the Kit
its located in this Funky plastic case in the trunk, and youll see it looks just like a tire spoon/tire remover tool, only mini sized.
weird eyh??
it works perfect, you can change your own tires in less than 5 mins.
we changed 6 tires tonite, all with a Small hammer and that spoon only.
the ones we took of the minis were soft n useless and easy to get off.
the ones we put back on were snowblower tires and Super stiff but still went right on there.
just a thought,cheers

oyeah hey read my topic i made today about these Warriors too Big,okay, and make sure you check your Engine tray for stress cracks.

Ask and Ye shall Receive ;)
jussssst dont ask me for no allowance, cause the boys running me ragged already :hammer:
( didnt we used to Do the chores Before we got paid when we were kids?? )

the plastic panel i think was on the Side in the Trunk area, cant recall exactly
but here it is,youll see its the handle for some sort of volvo wrench, its a basic toolkit volvo thoughtfully included that youll never find till you junk the car...that sort of useful.

factory writing inside plastic cover says B28 and 4 cylinder turbo motors only.
if that helps?
if so,this came out of my 89 turbo wagon.
ive seen others too,now i wish id grabbed them as well...

last pic is my small snapon hammer, wedge the bar under the tire lip, wedge the other end of the bar against the Wheel shaft and start tapping.
the hardest part of changing these tires is breaking the bead.
leverage is your friend there...

the only thing i came up with was spark plug wrench...?
the spoon is the handle for that socket.
honestly, next time you go to pick a parts or a junkyard, just look around.
hardly anyone ever used them which is why you found that complete kit there on the bay.

the wrenches are junk got tossed and the screwdrivers still working hasnt broken yet.
but that spoon works like a charm...i thought briefly about welding the socket to the top of handle of spoon for leverage/and to hammer on,but never got that far.
spoon hasnt bent either,so its made out of decent stuff.

o duh..just remembered.
the socket is actually the one for the volvo jack.
the handle has the spoon for your hand to leverage the jack.
they were totally inadequate and everyone got a diff one.
i had forgotten about that till just now.

Here are pics of the spacers I made from some galvanized pipe I bought at Home Depot. Cut to length and sanded. Voila. Ready to go now. Thanks again for the measurements.

Well she's up and running. I have to say, this bike is much more comfortable to ride when compared to the doodlebugs we have. Has to be the big low pressure balloon tires. Time to clean her up and make her pretty now that she rolls :)

BTW, my $2.38 investment for the pipe to make the spacers worked fantastic! Thanks again Ludicrous for the measurements. Those were the key to getting this done.

Have my warrior nearly completed. Just repainted it today. Think it turned out well.
it does look good and i agree, they are much more comfortable to ride on.
i have several Db-s and only one has shocks and even That one isnt as smooth as these are.
then again, you cant cram a warrior in the back of a blazer with 3 other Db-s either sooo..lol!

you are welcome for the measurements,i always try to help others.
lmk when you get to the point where you decide to construct a seat w/shocks ;)
thats where we are now.
