Hi everyone, for this build I decided to jump on a project that I've been thinking about for a while.. when I was searching for parts for one of my Tacos, I came across Taco Joes monster frijole.. I liked the look so I decided to build a similar frijole but with my own little twist.. the first thing that will set it apart is that its a reproduction frame of the 1965 frijole, not the later one.. you can see the neck and seat areas are way different in comparison.. second, I will be using early Taco forks(reproduction) instead of the original Frijole ones.. this will give me a little more room up front, plus give it a tougher, wider look upfront..
There are a lot of things I haven't made a final decision on yet like paint, tires (wont be using the 450-310s on the rims), jackshaft etc. But I'm sure those issues will work themselves out as I get stuff done..
I figured I would name it too, so my thinkin was that all the 1965 models had a Mexican entree name (Taco,Tacquito,Burrito and Frijole)... So I decided to name it the "Enchilada". Well here is my entry photo and thanks for taking a look..

Be watching this one. You always build cool bikes.
They sounds like it may be one of your best.
Thanks buckeye, this one is probably the bike that I will put the most work into so far.. usually I just repair a messed up frame and add some paint and parts.. but this one will need a little more attention:grind::weld: I'm sure there are some headaches coming soon:mad2::cursing::laugh::laugh:

Couldn't agree more. I spend all my time rescuing and repairing the abandoned ones. However, I bought a big bottle of Advil for my build and I'm willing to share if needed..

I'm looking forward to this one too, those astro rims always look good.
This is going to be nice. Always a pleasure to see talent and tools in action.
Thanks guys, hope I don't disappoint:thumbsup:

I was pretty busy this weekend but was able to get a little done.. I thought the forks would just bolt on at first, but realized that the neck on the frijole is longer then the space between the triple trees..So I had to trim the neck down.. but I couldn't use the regular Taco bushings because that's more material I would have to cut off from the neck to accommodate for..material I can't spare. Since I wasn't going to use the normal bushings with the step down.. I had to figure out what to do about mounting the forks.

at first I though to drill out the forks to 5/8 and be done with it..but if I ever change my mind and want to use the forks on a different frame then I would have to refill and drill them back to normal.. so I used spacers that are 5/8 o.d. and 1/2 I.d.

Here is a pic of the frame and forks together along with the astros.. I'm waiting on some tires for it. Ordered some general 530/450-6 for it. I think the tires will look a lot cooler then the topical 410/350 tires..

I know... Slow start:shrug:, but it will Slowly but surly come together:smile::laugh: thanks for lookin:thumbsup:

small update

Well, I finally got my tires in.. they took the scenic route, UPS had them tour the country before they ended up at my house.. didn't want to do any fab work with out them because I wanted to know if they would even fit, and how much room I had to work with..
Here is a pic of the size difference between the usual 410x350-6 and the new general tires size 530x450-6.. then a pic of them mocked up..

Now I can start figuring out the engine plate, jackshaft, kickstand and even footpegs. Hopefully this weekend I will get some of that done.
