Project salt bee

I was asked to introduce myself. My handle may be less than unique but it's the handle I picked 47 years ago when I started Junior High. Right now I have no mini bike or go kart. I worked for a man 44 years ago who gave me a go kart frame as payment. I bolted my Power Mechanics Project 2 1/2 horse Clinton flathead on it and flew around the little airport my landlord owned. 20 years ago I built a 5 horse B&S powered minibike that was stolen along with my welder and cut off saw. 3 years ago I bought a 73 Honda 500 4 and built it into the hardtailed bobber pictured here. Last year I bolted a Predator and gokart axle to a 90 Western Auto Wizard, also pictured here, just to play in the grass with. Now, however, I'm planning something big. I want to build a Predator Hemi-powered streamliner to take to Bonneville to set the Motorcycle & Sidecar Streamliner Records for the 250cc Fuel-burning Pushrod engine class and "Do the Ton" on the Salt in few years. Right now I'm trying to absorb as much data as possible so as to complete PROJECT SALT BEE.

Sounds interesting. Running 200 at Bonneville is something I have wanted to do since I was a kid. Was gathering parts after I retired but got sidetracked playing with oval track cars since I didn't have to tow 2500 miles to run them.

Tell us more about these classes that run the industrial engines. Got any pictures of what is currently being run in those classes.

Welcome to OldMiniBikes Ricky. Good chance I'll be there when you get to Bonneville. My band plays the Rainbow casino in West Wendover on the Nevada/Utah state line overlooking the vast reaches of salt flats about 3-4 times a year. That's one place I've brought my minibikes before on the truck with us. The casino back end borders on a huge municipal sports complex, baseball diamonds, football field, which was good riding enough, the other side was the salt flats. No facility or anything, I think there is over in Utah side. Good luck, be watching your project!
