Recommend paint remover?

How's it going OldMiniBikes just wondering of anyone knows of a great paint remover for a metal frame on a go kart. Need a strong chemical to remove the paint so I can have just the raw metal frame. All information is appreciated! Thanks.

No the plastic will keep the stripper wet and the fumes will react more with the paint. just works better like that. you can do it without the plastic. still works great. Strongest stuff out there. So strong the EPA is trying to outlaw it. We at a shop aren't suppose to have it in the shop, but an individual can use it.

Easy Off oven cleaner works too. Same deal, spray it on thick and put it in plastic.
Certainly not as good as Bruce suggested, but works in a pinch.

X's two. Thats what I use for all of my frames. I scrub with water and course steel wool while it's still slimey after the second application. Have to scrape the first one off.

Only hurts a little bit. On some projects, we can't use sand blasting because of the delicate parts, or the condition of parts we're trying to save and restore. (Like half the kart in my case)

I tried this on an old engine shroud, sprayed with easy off oven cleaner, put in the sun in a black trash bag, and wow...the paint rolled off.

I'll provide the same warning here to members that I've provided before:
DO NOT use "Easy Off" on ANY aluminum parts (like engine blocks) or you will permanently discolor and etch the metal (Don't ask! :doah:). It contains Lye which is highly corrosive to aluminum. O.k. to use on steel "tins" like engine shroud pieces, just no aluminum parts.
