Side to side play in chain

I've got some side to side slop in my chain. So much so that it occasionally hits the rear fender and makes a quasi rattle. Is this indicative of a chain that is too loose?

More than likely. A better judge is up and down play. I like no more than 1/2" Too tight wears your clutch too loose you throw your chain

how old is the chain? is it a cheap chain or a double roller type? a wore out chain can do this because the pins and links get wore out.

new to mini bikes,but harley rider & builder 40 + years. side to side usually means worn out chain IMHO:shrug:

yeah my chain hits the fender. Its super worn out and loose. A good chain should have a large amount of side to side resistance even when it is loose.
