I'm wondering why and how it stopped leaking after about 27 seconds into the video.

He shouldn't have to be in there tweaking the float on a new carb. GPS had it open to put a 130 jet in there and should have verified the float adjustment while it was open. In their video they suggest half to 3/4 out on the idle mixture screw. Why wouldn't it come already set that way? And if they were good they would put the idle (slide) screw in a known good starting position.

The GPS kit is $98. For the extra $60 over an Amazon kit they should have it completely setup at a base line for their customers. Otherwise, you are paying $60 for a 130 jet and "GPS" etched onto the carb. These VM22 clone carb kits are $30 on Amazon. I'm sure it's possible to get a bad one. But the two I got worked once set up and tuned.
Hmm.. So I have one more of the exact same carb laying around that I was sent on accident for some shipping problems for GPS. I can either try installing that one or people have told me that nibbi carburetors from amazon work really well too. I could give it a try. I really think the carburetor is the problem in my build because i’ve verified everything else like timing, compression, spark, fuel etc. Hoping it’s just a faulty carburetor and nothing more.

Yeah the other carb may be a good next step.

You could go Nibbi or PWK or something else but how much better would they perform than a tuned VM22 clone? Anyone know?

If cost isn't an issue you have a lot of options.

Really just want to get it running at this point. I’ll look into both options and if you guys think getting a Nibbi or PWK is a good route, i’ll get them. Let me know please.

That should work.

We don't know enough about your engine to comment. Like what cam did you use? What gearing? How much RPM do you intent to run?

From what I have seen from the VM22 clone with its 26mm venturi I would get the 24mm version of the Nibbi.
I used a stage 2 kit from GPS. here’s a link. Gearing as of now is a 60-12 i believe with a 30 series torque converter. So a 24mm then? Also, could I use the same manifold as the one i currently have or should I get a new one, i’m having trouble finding one.

SAS289, if you could please send me what i need along with the Nibbi, such as the manifold and air filter it would be greatly appreciated.

Don't take it apart, just bolt it on.
If it runs, tune it. If it doesn't run, just stop.
OK? The reason is : The more places and people you ask, the more answers you get.
Generally only one of those will be correct.;)
