Tech Hm80 intake manifold question

#1
Hey guys. I am in the process of restoring an VT-7 Super bronc and have decided to use a HM80 power plant. My SB comes with the original Jackshaft and band brake setup. As you can see in the picture, the carb, intake manifold are in the way. I was wondering how I could relocate the carb to be higher an out of the way of the Jackshaft. Thank you for your help

You'd pretty much have to come up with some other kind of intake manifold. I can't remember the pattern from the intake to engine, but think they are at a slight angle.. If the hole spacing was right, you might use an H70 intake

Bridger, the bolt pattern is the same but unfortunately the way the holes are recessed in the manifold from an H engine it's backwards and puts the carb on an angle :doah:... soooo close..... great idea though.....

Blackshirt i made that manifold out of the same turned down type that you have now . All you have to do is cut the two flanges off and a small straight section out of the manifold and have it welded up .

Order Tecumseh part number: 34349A
It's the flange that adapts the carb to the block on the HM series.
Costs about 12 dollars.

I had the same flange , and its the reason i made the new manifold . With the exhaust on the right side and the fuel inlet on the inside it puts them pretty much touching . When the engine gets hot it will run like sh-t . Its hard to imagine that heald let that get by . That why my new manifold is as long as it is , gets it away from the pipe . JMHO
