Trafic cercles are Not all the internet claims they are there are many issues with them. the biggest is volume. single lane trafic cercles can only handle so much trafic before they become overwelmed and create a trafic jam. the portsmouth NH trafic cercle by the highway is a perfect example. it many times backs trafic up almpst a quarter mile from the cercle while a large 4 lane intersection would fix the problem and create fat less backup.

The Lee cercle tried to solve this volume issue by adding another threw lane allowing both inner and outer lanes to be used by threw trafic. This aproach fixed the volume problem but made it the most dangerose intersection I have ever had the displesure of using. I've almost been hit multiple times trying to exit the inner lane by cars heading to the next exit. This circle should never have been set up like this and is just plane a bad idea!

The last one is the biggest issue: trafic cercle suck for tractor trailer trucks! in trafic cercles you have to wait for an opening to apear before you can go and thats hard enough at a bussy cercle in a small fast car but the chances of an opening apearing large enough and long enough for a tractor trailer almost never happens durring peak hours. The opening needs to be four times the length needed for a car and the tractor traile is slow so it needs to stay open twice or more as long. I have seen tractor trailers being forced to cut people off illegaly just to get threw the portsmouth cercle. I barly ever see tractor trailers using this cercle and thats probably the reason. We need shipping for our economy to thrive and traic cercles hurt shipping.

The portsmouth cercle should be removed and replaced by an intersection with 2 threw lanes each way and aditional left and right hand turning lanes each way this would solve the constant trafic jams.

There are several by where my sister lives in PA….i really hate them….but for fun and to really piss the folks off, just keep circling and never pick an exit….

Well if you like Circles, check out Diverging Diamond intersections.
We have one here and it works well but have never seen a pedestrian attempt to cross it.

Here is an old video when it was just opened but not trimmed out.

As far as the circles just need to be observant and maybe a little aggressive and they are a breeze. The island is made to be run over for trailers with the sloping curbing.
And if you want to practice drifting, well here ya go!

trafic cercles can work in certain low volume no shipping situations but thats it!

There is an even more infuriating pice of infostructure being forced on uss in my area called speed humps those should be illegal! its just a bigger speed bump. I have to drive over 2 of them in a row going to work and there is a stop sign 100 feet down the road making them completly redundent. you should see the scratch marks on the far side of these things! they are going to have to repave the road soon if they keep them.
Every scratch represents damadge to a car! and I can imagine this is playing havock with my alignment and adding unnecessary ware and tare to my shocks.
