when do you have smoke coming out of your filter? after you run the engine or during. If its after, usually that's normal if the motor comes to a stop and there is carbon on the piston with the intake valve is open. The carbon gets hot and smolders the unburnt gas causing smoke.
Or in the case of one or the guys we went riding with a couple months ago, a backfire caught the air cleaner on fire. hahaha that was kinda funny wish I had video of that.
