Am I missing a part

Hi all , trying to assemble a throttle cable into a PZ19 carb, when the cable is installed it pushes all the way through, I believe there is a part missing although I can’t identify it IMG_5072.jpeg IMG_5072.jpeg IMG_5071.jpeg IMG_5071.jpeg

Is that blurry spot the internal cable w/a lead termination? If so when you twist the grip that should pull the slide up. If it the cable sticks that far thru the slide then I believe your cable is too long. At rest the lead portion should be contacting the inner, top of the slide. The cable raises the slide and the spring returns the slide. Are you missing the spring that goes in the tower?

When I push the cable in it goes straight through, it seems like there is a part missing under the spring on top of the the throttle cylinder, either plastic or a metal washer, if I pull up on the cable it will bring the cylinder up but it does not push it down.
There really isn’t any other way to install the cable.

That’s what I thought, but what I just saw on UT there appears to be a spacer on top to the cyclinder and below the spring.
I think my problem is that I am pushing the slack in without adjusting it on the handle end, when correctly adjusted the cable should be fairly tight in the cylinder and pull up against the spring tension.
P/S this is an unconventional use of this carb setup.

You just summed up what I was trying to explain. Your inner cable appears to be too long

On top of your carb, where the cable HOUSING goes into the carb, is there a piece with threads that the cable goes through?
Please install your throttle "cylinder" into your carburetor , pull the cable and see if you still have a problem. If your cable is still too long, please post more pictures.

If this is your hit and miss locomotive project, please warn us, OK?

Have not run yet, this is an experiment, it will be throttle governed by the cable which will go back to a lever , still working on that, still wondering how best to tune the carb.

Hi currently have the carb and manifold mounted, have carb linkage setup, problem now is where to start adjusting the carb.when I hold my hand over the throttle and crank the flywheel it floods the carb, so gas is present, tried tweaking the adjustment screws and it appears that I am not getting fuel into the cyclinder, I do have a reasonable spark for this magneto, it did fire once and that’s it, wondering if jet sizes should be increased or what would be the place to start

I'm not sure I understand why you are trying to make a throttleable carburetor work on a hit and miss engine. I have messed with a few over the years and If I understand them right the fuel air mixture and air flow to the cylinder remains constant (no throttle) and the speed of the engine is controlled by lifting a valve to release compression when the engine reaches the design speed.

You shouldn't need to throttle the air coming in, just a venturi with an adjustable fuel jet. The hit and miss governor does the rest.
