band brake and torque converter?

Will a band brake work with a torque converter, or is that a really baaaad idea? :crying:If I use a jackshaft instead, same question.

Are you talking about the band brake to the clutch? Or to a drum?

I am not an expert but; yes. Bad idea. what is your set up now that you would even consider this craziness.

I have been looking at doing this for a bike with a scrub brake as a back up brake... you will have to run a longer shaft for the driven and mount a small 2" or 2.5" puck and band brake on the backside, it will require a custom mounting bracket for the band brake also...it will be easier to do a modification like this with a steel back plate than an alum version..

Thanks for all the feedback. Currently running a 212 predator, band brake on 4" clutch, 10t x 61t, #41 chain, and a scrub brake on the rear sprocket.

Heald Super Broncs run a 4"drum and band brake right off the driven shaft. Part of the TAV set up.

If you can do a drum brake on a jackshaft it's very effective. It has a lot of leverage because of how small the sprocket on the jackshaft is relative to the rear sprocket. Good luck.
