Band brake

With all the issues I have been having trying to get a disc brake installed on the Cat Hillcat, I was thinking about bolting a band drum to one of the sprockets.

My question though is what is the depth of a standard 4" bolt on drum like the one from OldMiniBikes? I only have so much room between the sprocket and the pivot arm. I know I could shave the drum skinnier, but then, how wide is the band?

I just went out and measured my 4.5" band brake and drum.
Drum was 1.25" wide and band was 1" wide.

Thanks for checking. I am hoping the 4" drum and band is a little shorter than that.

4" drum is 1-1/8" thick with tape on inside and 1-1/4" with tape on the outside.
