Cherry levers came in left and right hand versions. There is a slot on the bottom side to aid in installing and removing the cable end. Left hand versions are plentiful but right hand ones are a bit scarce. In a pinch, you can usually buy a knock off lever assembly and swap the blade onto a real Cherry mount to make a right hander, but again, the length is a bit short. Still better than using a left hander upside down.
I've seen some sellers with large quantities of left hand Cherry's claim many bikes used 2 left levers originally, flipping one over for the right side. I don't buy that unless someone here is certain of an example. Arctic always used a proper set.
