Engine Test Stand Honda/Lifan

#1
With my recent foray into the honda ct and z minibike world I thought I would need a test stand for working on my engines.

I recently picked up a Baja 90 parts bike , mainly for the engine and after stripping all the parts of it I was left with a bent and twisted junk frame.

So I hacked it apart with the mini grinder and rooted around in my parts bins for some square tube , wheels , tank and bars
Welded it together this morning and sprayed some paint on it.

Yup and if I mount a sprocket on the axel and put a front wheel on it I could ride around the shop lol
Kind of like a Redneck Segway lol

OMG...that's awesome. I need one of those. I'm working on a Z50 engine now and its whipping my butt. I wish I knew more about these engines  Get a video of the redneck Segway ride.

Nice work. I've got the frame from a powerwasher that my first GX390 came on that serves the same purpose. It's nice to have some thing solid you can bolt and engine to when testing. It beats bolting it to an old hunk of lumber on the garage floor and the wheels make it easy to move around.

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing with an old generator I was given, the generator part is shot but once I pull off the honda motor on there it would make a perfect test stand

I use a pressure washer roller it works perfict. But not set up for the motorcycle engines, YET.

That's why I don't throw anything away. My wife fusses about it all the time. But when she needs something built or repaired, I usually use leftover junk to do it. Believe me when I tell you that I make sure she knows what I use. Then, for a while, she'll leave me alone about my scraps of metal, broken dvd players, etc... Now the old junk cars are a whole different story-they take up a lot more room.
