gc160 carb manifold

If you don't get an answer from someone who used that carb on a gc160 you will have to start measuring. The center to center bolt holes on the intake are 42-43mm.

It should work if you can bolt it to the engine. But you should use a header pipe with it. I'm not sure how it would work with the stock muffler.

You will have to be careful with RPM without a functional governor. You don't want to ruin the idea with a blown engine and possible injury.

Earlier this year I ran this carb on a stock 196 with a header pipe. RPM was limited by gearing and under 30 MPH riding. Even if I ran it to top speed I'm certain that it would run out of power and top out at a safe RPM.

The gc160 has the carburetor in the back and the exhaust out the front of the engine. My margay kart was horrible with my right arm resting on the exhaust pipe. So there shouldn’t be any interference there. Though I don’t know if the manifold bolts up.

so I tried a 19mm carb and it just pops and backfires l. the 22mm kinda bogged down when I gave it full throttle for a second then have power. it has a 130 jet in it. it came with other jets. I'm kinda getting frustrated with this engine and might yank it and put in a briggs or 212cc. any advice or help

Bogging out of the gates but then you get the power you want? Sounds rich enough, but maybe too rich. If so, maybe increase your air with the mixture screw so even your earliest throttle isn't overwhelmed with gas. Also, a 130 main jet sounds plenty big, but if your early throttle is still stumbling like it just can't come prepared, try dropping the needle a notch or two to bury that taper and get your fuel release to feel more gradual in that lowest rpm range.

This is far from scientific, but I’ve put VM22-clone carbs on a few 196/212 GX200-clone engines (with headers), and have had good luck with 120 main jets in most cases. On a GC190, I’d expect something that size, or maybe even smaller to be a good bet. 130 seems like it might be large. Easy enough to swap jets to see if it helps or hurts.

so I tried all your suggestions. except the header. I don't have access to building a header. but need position didn't help. so I tried a 120 jet ans with the need clip at the bottom and cleared up about 90% the logging issue. now when I'm at a idle and given it full throttle it won't bog and almost die. it kinda bogs down when I'm at full throttle for a awhile but just for a sec and clears ups.

Sounds like you're nearly there. Maybe tweak the air screw a tad.
