Predator Motor Stalling

#1
I have a Predator 212cc on my Motovox mini bike. I am running an OldMiniBikes header, air intake filter, emulsion tube and a 37 jet. The motor cranks up first try and I can ride around for 20 or 30 minutes then it starts to stall, spit and sputter, and eventually go dead. It will even go dead while moving when the throttle is fixed at half throttle. Then I usually have to wait 5 min or so until it will crank back up, after that sometimes it will go dead upon braking and stopping. I'm assuming this is a flooding issue? Can anyone give me some advice on what is causing this? Thanks.

Does the motor seem to run good when it is running? Have you pulled the plug and taken a reading to see if it is running rich? Have you checked the oil? There is a low oil shut off so if the oil is low it will shut the motor off.

Is it a vented gas cap? Does it run after you take off the cap and check to see if you have gas? That could be por ventilation that would stop gas. How about the plug, is it wet? I would unplug the yellow and black wires that are going into the case. That is your low oil sensor. I would actually remove that, but you could get away with just cutting the wires off at the case. Is your coil okay? If they are cracked, they will work at first. When they beat up with the motor, they can expand and stop working properly.

I agree with the posts above if the motor revs up fine and stops working after a while its probably not the carb. If you don't have the stock plug in I would try putting it back in, unplug the oil sensor, make sure the coil is not grounded to anything, and make sure the gas cap vent is not plugged. You can try one at a time to figure out what is the cause.
