After I mentioned that I occasionally do some upholstery as a hobby, I have had a couple of requests for some pics of my work. Thanks to everyone who has shown interest !

I sewed these seat covers for a few of my projects:

Honda CT70 K0: Black, heat-seamed marine vinyl for the top. Black, smooth marine vinyl for the sides and back. Logo stenciled on with Cloud Silver vinyl color (not paint).

1995 Sea-Doo XP: Yellow, carbon-fiber vinyl for the top. Charcoal, White and Purple carbon-fiber vinyl for sides/accents.

1996 Sea-Doo GTX: Turquoise Green, smooth marine vinyl for the top. Black and White, smooth marine vinyl for sides/accents.

Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, I don't do upholstery "for hire" ! I simply make a seat or two every now and then for my own toys and restoration projects. A couple of OldMiniBikes members had asked to see some of my work, so I posted these pics for that reason only. From all the previous posts I've read, it seems that kbs8ball is the resident OldMiniBikes seat specialist and actually does this as a business. As a newer member here...and out of respect to him and his customers...I would never come on here trying to edge-in on the good thing he has going on !

I learned how to sew about 30 years ago and my upholstery hobby sort of took off out of necessity. I restore vintage motorcycles and mini bikes. Many of the bikes I work on no longer have parts support - especially cosmetic stuff....so replacing dry-rotted and destoyed seat covers was always an issue...since none were generally available for me to purchase. My wife gave me a commercial sewing machine as a gift - and I started making my own seat covers.

Fantastic work!

Sure I can't convince you to make me a seat? I have an OEM warrior "saddle" seat that I took apart due to the cover being ripped. I want to have it redone in black perforated marine grade vinyl.

If you can help me out let me know in a PM

buckeye,

Thanks for the kind words. I visit this website daily to learn from OldMiniBikes members and to share my lifelong passion for all things related to mini bikes and motorcycles - especially vintage stuff ! The last thing I want to do is come on here and ruffle feathers by stepping on another member's business. I'd like to establish myself as a courteous, helpful enthusiast - that is known a neighborhood nice guy !

To all others who have sent inquiries and kind comments,

As I have stated in other posts, at the present time I'm not doing upholstery work "for hire". I simply don't have the time to give potential customers the attention to detail that they deserve and that I demand from myself. I work 50 + hours per week in a suit-and-tie corporate job (gotta pay the bills somehow !) and my wife and I have two pre-school-age children that pretty much take all of my time when I'm not at work.

On the other hand, I'm always happy to answer questions and assist you guys in any way that I can. Upholstery-related questions and discussion are welcome.

My primary area of interest / specialty is with 60s thru 70s Japanese mini bikes, minicycles, dirt bikes and trials bikes - particularly Honda QA, Z, MR, CT, SL and XR machines - Yamaha JT1 Mini Enduro - Hodaka & Fuji-powered bikes - the Honda Elsinore family - and a variety of vintage trials machines (TL, TY, RL, KT).

To those who have sent me PMs, I will personally respond to you when I get home from work tonight !

A few days ago, I didn't know it would generate so much interest when I mentioned that I know how to do upholstery !

Nice to hear from you kbs8ball. Sounds like we share more than skills with sewing machines. Our paths to becoming "seat makers" is pretty much identical...and I KNOW what you're saying about family life, bro.
