took it apart, would love to know what engine it is 3.5 or 4 ?
and can a lighting coil be installed? if so, where do i get one?
This is for the Rupp Scrambler i am building in the build section

yes spray paint, and it's apart so i can clean it up, I didn't paint it, got it this way, those are the only #'s I saw

I originally suggested popping off the head and measuring the bore.....H30 and H35 is 2.500 ...HS40 is 2.625....but that's on the early motors. I thought it would be a good idea to actually look at the pics :doah: and realized this was a late model motor with the coil outside the flywheel so I don't know anything about those things...

******Scratch that....the late model H30, H35 and H40 all have a 2.500 bore so you'd have to measure the stroke.....

Lighting coil would require a different flywheel also...

I wonder if an early square top shroud would fiit on that motor for a "vintage look".....

So my efforts in trying to build this rupp almost original are in vain, I guess I would be just as well clonning !

ahh don't get discouraged....let some of the other experts ring in!! Lighting coil setups for the later motors might be easy to come by a lot of the snowblowers used them...

Yeh, Rupp original engines for pre 1970 are hard to come by. You can stick a clone on there while looking for a correct engine, then at least you can be riding it. The bike is looking good though !

I think Peekster actually had a "lit" 3-1/2 tec for sale that came off a '69 RUPP..:drool:.not sure if he still has it....:shrug:

Hit 'em up for a price now before his meds wear off....:laugh:

Thanks for the thought, but it says it was sold in the thread, plus it was a newer motor too. Oh well
