The "Double Whammy" Dragbike Build

#45
I got to witness the first high speed run yesterday!!

It was very scientific and was followed by this conversation:

Me: Well?
Kenny: It FELT fast...
Me: Yeah, it definitely LOOKED fast...

KB2--See post #1

Very scientific indeed

I was just happy that it was smooth and nothing (myself included) flew off at speed.
I had to make a few chain tensioner adjustments and now it's wait for the big day.

I added 14 inches to the length.
I wanted to keep the two engines as close as possible to keep the chain length short between them.

Other than an extra 14 inches in the middle, and removing fenders and extra brackets, its a stock Doodlebug frame.
I cut a few inches out of the bars to lower them a bit, but that's it.
I think the low bars and naked seatpan make it look more different than it really is.

Well, the day I've been waiting for came and went in a flash!
The Billetproof Drags and Minibike Madness are in the books.
Fastest pass of the day for the Double Whammy was............
11.359 at 63.08 mph.
Pretty happy with that! I met some great people, saw some neat mini's and watched some fast cars.
Now I can get some work done around the house!

Sounds like the gearing is about perfect for the current tuning. The clones are stock?

Good job BTW! You hit the bullseye pretty quick with that build.

To answer the gearing question. 12 x 12 x 38
The tires are 13 x 5 x 6

Thanks Dual 500,
I was happy that it topped out right before the line, almost right on.
And the clones...Here is all that was done.
Billetflywheels
Homeade Headers
Aftermarket Aircleaners (stock jets)
Rod in place of spring to by pass govenor
That's it, all stock inside.
I wanted it to start every time and be reliable, plus my knowledge of what to do inside is pretty low.
That will have to change over the next year because Square Chopper is going to be gunnin' hard to take me out!
Here is the proof

The job you did on the bike - conceptualization, design and execution shows mechanical skill. You're going to have a blast building the engines. Take them up a little at a time, like you're doing. Building and tuning.
