The Vintage Mini Bike Family Photo Scrapbook

"Aug. 1972, my first motorcycle...well, mini-bike. It came from Bottom Dollar in Clute, my grandparents Hazel and Oscar Boyd paid half of the $180 to help me get it. This road monster had a 5hp engine, suspension on both ends (not sure they really did much, though), and a variable-speed belt transmission, which meant no shifting (gears? What are gears?). I was 12 years old." ....._unknown

I recently found another picture showing a Hot Shot at the 1970 National Trail Scooter Association sanctioned races in Provo canyon. I can't really tell if it's a different pic of the same machine.

"A home built mini-bike by Eddie Crowel out of Crowels Cycles in Inglewood, CA - 1969

Hodaka forks cut down, Curnut rear shocks, 5 HP Briggs and Stranton engine w/ an Eddlebrock Cam and I'm sure a host of other stuff that I'm not aware of. I would love to have this bike back again."

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and I am wondering if someone can help me identify the make and model of my minibike that i had in the late 70s. i have attached pictures of it from the summer of 1977. this was given to me from a neighbor up the street. when i received it it was pretty beat on. the motor was a 3-4 HP tecumseh has direct chain drive to back wheel large seat with letters on back. cant remember what it said on the back of the seat this would have helped. color is purple. It had some sort of triangular pegs to put your feet on and I suspect there must have been a fold down pipe etc on these at one time. My guess is that from the previous owner it was a possible model from 1965-1970 they couldnt remember when they bought it. any help would be great for im looking to get another for a family memeber.

best regards
romano

From Dangerous Dan:

This pic was taken around 1978.
I got the frame and wheels in the trash on junk day.
The engine I bought at a garage sale for $10. My father helped me get it running. It needed a valve job, carb cleaned and the points polished up. Fenders are homemade. Bought a couple parts from JC Whitney, clutch, throttle, some cables.
Went to the local bearing shop to get a chain. When the old guy found out it was for a minibike, he just gave it to me for free.
I ended up selling it for $125 after I got a Rupp minibike frame with suspension. I got an engine and fixed the Rupp. I later sold it to buy an RM80. This fixing, riding & selling is still going on today. I love to get a bike with the engine all taken apart in a box.

Me on Rupp Electra (I think) in 1967 to 69

Going through my late fathers belonging and found a pix of me on my Rupp. I think it is Electra, Continental, C-350, or something close. Did my research and search before I asked but still not sure. Thanks for your help.

Hey guys. I'm Mark and I'm from the Chicago suburbs. Just found this forum while searching for info on my old Aggie bike. What a find, this place is great!

Anyway, figured I'd give a little info on my bikes. I've got an old Aggie bike, I believe late 60's. It's been in my family since new. My dad got it when he was in junior high, passed in on to a cousin when he outgrew it, then got it back when I was born. Now I'm 26, dad's no longer with me, and holding onto the bike until I have a son to pass it on to. I decided to rebuild it, which is what led me here.
