thinking about getting a clone?

ill say it again. Do a valve job! Its so easy and makes your warn out 5hp feel like a brand new 10hp. Its nothing to be afraid of. Alls you do is pull off the carb so you can get at the valve springs. Pull the shroud and head. Use your fingers to twist the valves and see when they open and close in relation to where the piston should be when it does. Usually the intake stayes open just enough to be loose almost all the way to top dead center. Thats no good for compression:) It should be closed on the entire compression stroke. So you just pull out the valve and grind the bottom of the valve at the lifter and replace and repeat until youve taken enough to get the damn thing to close when its suposed to . I dont even measure the clearance. Same deal with the exhaust. And while your in there you can clean up all the carbon and polish the ports if you want. Im tellin ya man theres really no way you can mess it up just dont go crazy with the grinder and take a little at a time. Youll be buying up every briggs you can because youll be so excited that you can transform them so easy lol Thats why your burning up clutches too. It doesnt have enough power to get the clutch enguaged with the gearing you have so it just slips all the time
