Well.
After spending the last four days with this knucklehead and mowing the yard, I got back at this frustrating nonidleing piece of @$#&.

I have been pming with Chad, OND, Chipper, and anyone else who will listen.
Tried three different carbs, with multiple combinations and finally figured it out.

Just a suggestion.
When you take things apart remember how they go together..:hammer:

I was making such a rookie mistake.
The clone carb has a plastic insulator, I think it's called. Big plastic piece that goes between the carb and intake.

Well, engine doesn't run for crap without it.:censure:
OND called it. "Tom, it won't run without that".

He was real polite and didn't shun me publicly.

Thanks for everyone's help.

There are a bunch of smart and most importantly, patient folks on this forum

This things runs like a top.
A little rich on idle now. May need some fine adjustment.:doah:

Met with the old racing boat builder neighbor and he is going to weld my header up.

ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE........

Yoop, he has one he built when he was 15. He's 80 something.
He was putting a brand new engine in a old 1976 Ford LTD when I rode up.
Tougher than I will ever be.

Not my first clone but, really thought since I removed some stuff with the top plate throttle assembly, I didn't need it anymore.

It does just what I wanted. Quick burst and plenty of top end.
I guess I could change the gearing and she's be a bit faster on the top end but, I'm good.
