A friend of a friend called me this morning and asked if I wanted a new mini in exchange for fixing two that have problems. So I went to take a look. There sat two old minis, both with 5 HP Briggs engines, and a bland knew DB 30 [had been rode for two minutes]. One of the old minis is a post 1962 Caper Cycle. Right out of the box I asked how much loot it would take to own the Caper. He had no idea what it was but said it was given to him by his father 35 years ago and it won't ever be for sale. Told him I wouldn't sell it ether and explaned that it was manufactured here in our town. Now he really likes his Caper. He said he expected the DB to run like a real mini but is snail slow so he's not interested in keeping it. The other old mini has a swing arm and I have no idea what it is. Took all three home and fixed the carb on the Caper but it still needs work on rear wheel bearings and straighten the forks. The other bike just need a throttle cable hook-up and little else.
But now I have to figure out what to do with the DB. A little too big for my youngest grand daughtor but some child around here will want it.
